To new beginnings!
Photography is not just a hobby for me, it is my job! I'm at the end of my final semester at Nossi College of Art. I'm a little sad but more excited! Sad to leave all of the great friends that I have spent long, hard, tearful hours with that I can now call my family. Excited to see where this takes me and what I can do without instruction! We each take journeys through our life and as each one ends another one begins! Here is to new beginnings!

I wish to capture the present with the eye of the past. - Patrick Summerfield

Quote of the day!
When you photograph people in colour you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in B&W, you photograph their souls! ~Ted Grant

Just a few photography tips for the hot, hot, hot weather!
Just a few photography tips for the hot, hot, hot weather!
-Drink more fluids (nonalcoholic), regardless of your activity level. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink.
-Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
-Stay indoors and, if at all possible, stay in an air-conditioned place.
-Protect your camera from condensation, sunscreen, and water!

Head Shots!
A head shot is an image that portrays a person as he/she is, however simple
or stylized the image might be.
This image is of my daughter Tristen. I used one 1600 alien bee with a 30 degree grid behind her on a lowboy and one 1600 alien bee above her with a beauty dish with a white diffusion.
Manual settings at 1/160 of a second, ISO - 400, F-stop 5.6, and Focal length 85

Here We Go!!
That awkward moment when someone asks you tell more about yourself, and you don't know what to say! First of all my name is April Bowen and I am a professional photographer. Recently, I graduated from Nossi College of Art where I studied Commercial photography and received my Associates Degree. I don't really see myself as a commercial photographer but more of a Children's, Sports, and Fine Arts photographer. I'm a mother of four awesome military brat's. We now live in Nashville, Tennessee, where I was born and raised.
The feeling I get when I am behind a camera is a rush that I cannot explain. I let the subject speak for itself. I believe the best photograph is one that is not posed but one that shows who you really are and your true self.
I hope that wasn't to boring... That being said, I will be posting more about myself, my work, and general photography information. Please feel free to leave comments and critiques.
